President Uhuru Kenyatta dangled the carrot and waved the stick as he met leaders from the Mount Kenya region. Steering clear of the dressing down that was anticipated, the president persuaded and chided the leaders at the same time, warning them to stop engaging in premature campaigns. He also pleaded for support for his handshake with ODM leader Raila Odinga, saying it had brought peace in the country.
