A team of Kenyan and British lawyers have submitted a complaint to the UN Special rapporteur for reparations on behalf of over 100,000 Kenyans against the British Government. They say the complaint is in relation to “horrific human rights abuses” suffered during land evictions in what is now known as Kericho County in Kenya’s Rift Valley region during the colonial period. The land that was then given to British settlers was later leased to Multinationals who now own huge plantations. I filmed BBC’s Mercy Juma reporting.
